Readers are always trying to guess what comes next. As writers, we can use those expectations against them. In this joyful, hands-on workshop, we’ll explore how to move beyond clichés, make the familiar strange, and find the less obvious choices that make stories feel fresh and surprising. Through examples, playful brainstorming, and creative prompts, you’ll experiment with character, point of view, setting, and narrative turns to discover what happens when you stop reaching for the expected—and follow your story somewhere stranger.
