Monday August 10th - 5pm–7pm PT

Instructor: Finnian Burnett

People often think of exciting scenes as the ones with car chases, arguments, or bodies falling from skyscrapers. But even major action thrillers need the quiet, in-between moments. Scenes where a character has to process grief, navigate an awkward family dinner, confess something they’ve been hiding.

In this workshop, we’ll explore how to write the reflective scenes that drive emotional growth through subtext, tension, and character relationships. We’ll talk about where to place reflective scenes, what to include to keep them interesting, and how to create intimate, meaningful moments for your characters.

Whether you’re writing emotionally resonant literary fiction or multiple-explosion space operas, or something in-between, you’ll learn about the small moments that often carry the greatest weight in your story.
