Pitch Perfect: How to Talk About Your Book Without Panicking
Saturday June 27th, 11am-1pm PT
Instructor: Finnian Burnett
You’ve written the book—now you have to explain it. In a sentence. Out loud. To someone important. No pressure. Every writer should be able to summarize their book in one or two sentences.
This two-hour workshop breaks down the art of the elevator pitch and how it informs query letters, pitch sessions, and those awkward moments at conferences when people ask, "What are you writing?" We’ll look at what makes a pitch compelling, how to highlight the heart of your story, and how to communicate character, conflict, and stakes without sounding like you’re reading from the back cover.
Through examples, discussion, and practical exercises, you’ll develop your own pitch and leave with tools you can use in query letters, conferences, and conversations about your work.
